ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (5-8) let a 4-1 lead slip away before falling by a score of 5-4 to Oneonta State (4-9) at RIT Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon. Before the match, RIT honored seniors
Amos Baptiste (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood),
Marc Lachance (Fairport, NY/Fairport),
Ken Chou (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott ),
Frank McGinn III (Wappingers Falls, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes), and
Jake Stocker (Cassville, NY/Sauquoit Valley).
RIT got off to a great start, winning two of three doubles matches and first and singles contests to take a commanding 4-1 lead. Oneonta would rally back and win the final four singles matches however, to pull out the victory.
Baptiste and
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) combined for three of RIT's four points. The duo of Baptiste and Ingoglia earned an 8-6 win at first doubles. Baptiste defeated Ben Leighton at first singles, 6-2, 6-2, while Ingoglia picked up a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Mackenzie Park at second doubles.
The dup of Chou and McGinn earned an 8-3 win at second doubles.
RIT is back in action on Thursday with a road contest at Hobart that gets underway at 4 p.m.
