ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (5-7, 1-4 Liberty League) dropped a crucial Liberty League contest to league foe Union (1-7, 1-3 Liberty League) by a score of 6-3 at RIT Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
Jared Raphael (Batavia, NY/Batavia) and
Jason Alexander (Austin, TX/Bowie) combined for all three points for RIT.
Union opened with two of three doubles wins in three hotly contested matches. RIT's team of Alexander and Raphael picked up an 8-5 win at third doubles.
On the singles side, Raphael won a spirited fourth singles match against Brendan Conry Jr., losing the first set 7-6, before rallying to win 6-4 and 10-4. Alexander then rolled to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Spencer Fontein at fifth singles.
RIT closes out its home portion of the schedule on Sunday against SUNY Oneonta. It is RIT's Tiger Den event that gets underway at 12 p.m.
