SYRACUSE, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (3-3) rolled to a 6-2 victory over LeMoyne College (5-5) on Friday evening.
The Tigers got match off on the right foot by winning all three doubles matches.
Kevin Layer (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) battled for an 8-6 win over James Gayvert and Benjamin Spoor, while
Ken Chou (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott ) and
Frank McGinn III (Wappingers Falls, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) defeated Jason Barton and Stephane Legris, 9-7. The third doubles duo of
Amos Baptiste (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) and
Jason Alexander (Austin, TX/Bowie) upended Steven Procopio and Adam Celata, 8-4.
Baptiste kept the momentum rolling defeating Barton at second singles, 6-3, 6-4. Ingoglia dropped the first set of his third singles match to Spoor, 6-2, but rallied to win the next two, 6-1, 6-3.
Marc Lachance (Fairport, NY/Fairport) won a thrilling match against Procopio at fifth singles, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).
RIT is right back in action on Sunday at Liberty League foe Rensselaer.
