MENDON, NY - The RIT men's tennis (2-2, 0-1 Liberty League) dropped its 2015 Liberty League opener to Skidmore College (4-1, 4-0 Liberty League) at the Mendon Tennis Center on Sunday.

RIT's first doubles team of Kevin Layer (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) had three different match points before falling in a heartbreaker to Nick Tong and Steven Koulouris by a score of 9-8. Skidmore would sweep the next two doubles matches to lead 3-0 heading into singles play.

Jared Raphael (Batavia, NY/Batavia) recorded RIT's lone point of the afternoon, getting a win over Tong by injury default. The Thoroughbreds would win the other five singles matches, all in straight sets.

RIT returns to action next Sunday with a match at Liberty League for St. Lawrence. That contest begins at 2 p.m.
