ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (1-0) concluded its fall 2014 schedule by rolling to a 9-0 shutout win over St. John Fisher (0-1) at RIT Tennis Courts on a sunny, warm, Friday afternoon.
The Tigers opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches. The first doubles pair of
Amos Baptiste (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) and
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) rolled to an 8-2 win over Jake Zarzycki and Patrick McGrath. At second doubles, the duo of
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Jason Alexander (Austin, TX/Bowie) defeated Kevin Kulaweic and Nathaniel Ligon, 8-4.
Ken Chou (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott ) and
Marc Lachance (Fairport, NY/Fairport) secured an 8-6 win at third doubles.
In singles action, Daub, Baptiste, Lynaugh, Alexander,
Andrew Reiley (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor), and
Jared Raphael (Batavia, NY/Batavia) all won in straight sets. Daub won a stirring match against Kulawiec, 7-6, 7-6. Baptiste rolled to a 7-5, 6-4 win over McGrath, while Lynaugh defeated Ligon, 6-2, 6-2. Alexander secured a 6-2, 6-4 win over Zarzycki, while Reiley shutout Dan Tedesco, 6-0, 6-0. Raphael secured the shutout with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Adam Moran.
RIT has concluded its fall season and returns to action on Feb. 14, 2015 against the University of Rochester.
