Men's tennis drops Liberty League conference contest at St. Lawrence

CANTON, NY –
The RIT men's tennis team (2-7, 0-2 Liberty League) dropped a road contest to Liberty League foe St. Lawrence University (8-6, 1-2 Liberty League) by a score of 9-0 at Newell Field House on Sunday afternoon.
 
St. Lawrence won all three doubles matches by scores of 8-3, 8-0, and 8-1. At third singles, Kevin Layer (Clarence, NY/Clarence) played a tremendous match against Rob Schmitz, falling in the first set, 7-5, before rallying to win set two, 6-4. In the tiebreaker, Layer fought hard before eventually going down, 11-9.
 
Jason Alexander (Austin, TX/Bowie) also just missed a win at sixth singles against St. Lawrence's Kevin Frommer. Alexander won the first set, 6-4, before Frommer rallied to win the second set 6-3, and the tiebreaker, 10-3.
 
RIT is back in action on Wednesday with a non-conference road contest at the University of Rochester that gets underway at 4 p.m.
