SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - The RIT softball team (7-15, 2-4 Liberty League) split a doubleheader at Skidmore (9-23, 1-7) on Sunday afternoon. The two teams combined to hit five home runs in an 11-7 game one victory for Skidmore, but the Tigers rallied to win the second game 9-1 in six innings.

Sarah Wolcott (Cohocton, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) went 3-for-7 with a home run and seven RBI's in the double header and Alissa Dixon (Rochester, NY/Webster Schroeder) picked up her third win of the season with a complete game, two-hitter. Brittany Griffin (Sterling, VA/Park View ) also homered and finished the day with four hits, five runs, and three RBI's.

In the opener, Skidmore jumped out to a 2-0 lead by scoring in the bottom of the second. The Tigers would take the lead with a three-run top of the third inning. Sarah Collmus (Falmouth, ME/Falmouth) led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a ground out. After a pop out, Amanda Cook (Royal Palm Beach, FL/Suncoast) walked and Kelsey McManus (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon ) singled to center to score Collmus. Wolcott then crushed a triple to right for two RBI's.

Skidmore would rally for three runs in the bottom of the fourth to grab a 5-3 advantage. A Wolcott sac fly would cut the deficit to 5-4 in the top of the fifth, but Mackenzie Whiting cracked a two-run home run to right center to give Skidmore a 7-4 lead.

Griffin closed the gap to 7-6 with a two-run home run to left center in the bottom of the sixth but the Thoroughbreds answered with two homers in the top of the seventh to extend the lead to 11-6.

Wolcott added a homer in the top of the seventh, finishing the game 2-for-3 with a season-high four RBI's. Collmus took the loss for the Tigers, allowing eight earned runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched.

Mackenzie Whiting went 3-for-3 with two runs and five RBI's for the Thoroughbreds.

The Tigers dominated game two behind Dixon, who threw a complete game and allowed only two hits and no earned runs while striking out seven batters.

RIT scored three runs in the top of the first and never looked back. A Wolcott double plated three base runners which proved to be plenty of run support for Dixon.

The Tigers added four runs in the fourth and two in the sixth to claim the victory. Griffin went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI and McManus knocked in three runs. Dixon also helped herself with a two run triple in the fourth.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at 3 p.m. at home against Fredonia State
