ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (4-6, 1-2 Liberty League) recorded its first shutout win of the 2012-13 season, defeating Liberty League rival Bard (3-7, 0-4 Liberty League) by a score of 9-0 at Stevenson Courts on Saturday afternoon.
Clayton Tontarski (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta),
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) were winners in both singles and doubles. Tontarski defeated Alexander Khondji at first singles, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, then partnered with
Kevin Layer (Clarence, NY/Clarence) to secure a 8-4 win at first doubles. Daub earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Philip Poznansky at second singles, and secured a 8-3 win at second doubles, teaming with Marc Gonzalez.
At third doubles,
Ken Chou (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott ) and
Frank McGinn III (Wappingers Falls, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) rolled to an 8-2 win over Erik Wallius and Dan Krakovski.
Will Abisalih (Merrimac, MA/Phillips Exeter Academy) defeated Ted Laport, 6-2, 6-3 at third third singles.
Neville Bilimoria (Mumbai/Schiller International),
Marc LaChance (Fairport, NY/Fairport), and #Jason Alexander all won their singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
RIT is back in action on Thursday, with a home contest against Liberty League foe Hobart that gets underway at 4 p.m.
