PITTSFORD, NY - The RIT softball team (5-7) returned to action for the first time in nearly a month and dropped a pair of road games at St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon, losing game one 13-4 in six innings and game two, 17-1 in five innings.
In game one, RIT had 12 hits in defeat.
Kaylee Mathews (South Dayton, NY/Pine Valley) had the big hit for RIT, clearing the bases with a three-run double in the top of the fifth inning.
Brittany Purcell (Drums, PA/Hazelton Area),
Kelly Meegan (Bristol, NH/Newfound Regional ), and
Sarah Collmus (Falmouth, ME/Falmouth) had two hits apiece for the Tigers in defeat.
In game two, Fisher exploded for 14 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sarah Fordyce homoered and drove in five runs for the Cardinals. Meegan singled and scored RIT's lone run.
The Tigers are scheduled to be in action next on Wednesday, with a road doubeheahder at Buffalo State that gets underway at 3 p.m.
