ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's tennis team earned its first win of the spring season on Thursday afternoon, defeating St. John Fisher College, 7-2. RIT won all three doubles matches in the non-conference contest.

In doubles action, RIT swept all three matches, led by the team of Clayton Tontarski (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and Kevin Layer (Clarence, NY/Clarence) at first doubles, who beat Patrick McGrath and Tommy Quinzii, 8-2.

The Tigers picked up wins at first, second, fourth and sixth singles. Tontarski beat Greg Duffy in first singles action, 7-5, 6-0. Will Abisalih (Merrimac, MA/Phillips Exeter Academy) beat Dan Parshall at second singles, 7-5, 6-1. Mark Gonzalez (Jersey City, NJ/High Tech) picked the win at fourth singles, and Jason Alexander (Austin, TX/Bowie) won at sixth singles.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at Ithaca College.
