CLERMONT, FL – The RIT softball team (5-5) concluded its 10-game Spring trip by splitting the final two games at the National Training Center on Friday. The Tigers defeated SUNY Canton (0-7) for the second time in four days, but then dropped the finale to Alma College (7-2).

In the opener, Sarah Collmus (Falmouth, ME/Falmouth) recovered after a tough first inning, to pick up her third win of the season. Collmus allowed three runs (two earned) and three hits in the top of the first, but allowed only three base runners the rest of the way as the Tigers won 5-3.

RIT scored twice in the third to cut the deficit to 3-2. Brittany Griffin (Sterling, VA/Park View ) led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on an error. Kelly Meegan (Bristol, NH/Newfound Regional ) knocked her in with an RBI single and would later score on a wild pitch.

RIT grabbed the lead for good with a three run fifth inning. Kelsey McManus (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon ) crushed a run scoring double, and the Tigers took advantage of three errors by Canton to score the decisive runs.

Andrea Rogers hit a three-run homerun for the Kangaroos.

In game two, RIT scored two runs in their first at bat but Alma College used a six run fourth inning to grab the 6-2 victory. Griffin, who went 2-for-4 for RIT, and Meegan scored on an error to get the Tigers on the scoreboard. Alissa Dixon (Rochester, NY/Webster Schroeder), fresh off firing the school's sixth no-hitter in history, took the loss allowing four earned runs in four innings while walking five batters.

Amanda Schneider and Christina Snoblen each knocked in two runs for Alma and McKenna Terrille allowed only five hits and struck out seven batters.

RIT returns to action on March 16 as they travel to Houghton College for a double-header beginning at 1 p.m.
