CLERMONT, FL -
The RIT softball team (3-3) dropped a pair of games at the National Training Center on Wednesday. RIT dropped the opener to Johnson & Wales in eight innings by a score of 2-1, then fell to Augustana College, 6-1.

In the opener, RIT scored its only run in the top of the first inning, as Sarah Wolcott (Cohocton, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) walked, was sacrificed to second, moved to third on a passed ball, and scored on a wild pitch. Johnson and Wales responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth, after loading the bases with nobody out, and scoring a run on a sacrifice fly. Kelsey McManus (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon ) threw out a runner trying to steal and a fly out got RIT out of more trouble.

After RIT failed to score in the top of the eighth inning, Johnson and Wales scored the winning run when Emma Rivera singled in Kayla Reed.

Both teams had just three hits. Tayla Gardner picked up the win for Johnson and Wales, striking out 11 batters in eight innings. Sarah Collmus (Falmouth, ME/Falmouth) allowed just three hits and the two runs in 7 1/3 innings. Kelsey McManus (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon ) was 2-for-3 for the Tigers.

In game two, the game was tied at 1-1 until Agustana scored three times in the fifth, and one each in the sixth and seventh innings to pull away.

RIT had just four hits. RIT's lone run came in the fourth inning, as Wolcott doubled in Tori Nadow (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill), who reached on a walk.

Alissa Dixon (Rochester, NY/Webster Schroeder) took the loss for RIT, allowing four earned runs, walking eight, while striking out eight batters.

Amanda Johnson was 2-for-4 with two RBI's for Augustana. Krista Watson hit a solo home run. Christie Wiersma pitched three innings in relief to earn the win.
