ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The RIT (1-2) men's tennis team opened its 2012-13 schedule over the weekend with three matches at the Flower City Tournament. The Tigers were beaten by SUNY Oneonta, 5-1, and Ithaca, 6-3, but rebounded to beat Nazareth, 5-3 in the consolation contest on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Tigers lone win versus Oneonta was in third doubles, where Joe Hodapp and Frank McGinn (Wappingers Falls, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) defeated Matt Richards and Adam Slifkin 8-6.

Versus Ithaca, Will Abisalih (Merrimac, MA/Phillips Exeter Academy) picked up his first win of 2012, defeating Justin Levine 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) was a winner in third singles, defeating Zach Lipson 6-2, 6-3. Hodapp and McGinn picked up another win in doubles, beating the team of Chris Hayes and Derryck Williams 8-3.

On Sunday, RIT won three of the six singles matches, and were winners of two-of-three doubles matches, defeating Nazareth 5-3. Daub, Kevin Layer (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and Jason Alexander (Austin, TX/Bowie) were winners in singles, while #Amos Baptiste and Layer were winners in second doubles. Hodapp and McGinn won their third doubles match of the weekend, defeating Bret Beaver and Scott Trobert 8-6.

RIT returns to action on Setpember 28 when the Tigers begin play in the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Ithaca College.
