ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (7-7) men's tennis team picked up a big win, defeating the University of Rochester, 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon. It is only the second win over the Yelowjackets in 32 meetings, and the first since 2007.

RIT ran out to a 5-1 lead, clinching the team point on Marc Lachance (Fairport, NY/Fairport)'s 6-3, 6-4 win at #6 singles over Jonathan Lieb.

The Yellowjackets battled back, winning at fourth singles, as Joel Allen defated Amos Baptiste (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) in three sets, and fifth singles  as Matt Volkov topped Max Bogue (Colchester, VT/Colchester) in three sets, the middle one going to a tiebreaker.

The match of the afternoon came at third singles. Rochester's Julian Danko defeated Neville Bilimoria (Mumbai/Schiller International), 6-4, in the first set. Bilimoria evened it at 1-1 when he won a 7-6 (7-3) decision in the second set. He won the team point by outlasting Danko, 14-12, in the third set.

Rochester's third team point was secured by the third doubles team of Volkov and John Lewis Etter, 8-5, defeating Baptiste and Jacob Stocker.

RIT wraps up the regular season on Saturday, April 21 when the Tigers host St. Lawrence at 1 pm on RIT Courts.
