SCHENECTADY, NY – The RIT women's soccer team (2-5-1, 0-1-0 Liberty League) dropped its first ever Liberty League contest on Saturday, falling to the No. 11 Union Dutchwomen, 2-0 on Saturday at College Park.

The go ahead goal came from freshman Stacey Sylvetsky with seconds left to play in the first half. The midfielder took a long pass in front of the goal from sophomore Meghan Cole, and buried the ball from 30 feet back. Freshman Emma Eddy also assisted.

Union took a 2-0 lead in the 69th minute, when Mollie Gilchrist tallied, set up off of a free kick from sophomore Caroline Gorka.

The Dutchwomen outshot RIT 15-6 and had a total of four corner kicks. Senior Mia Simone earned the shut out, making four saves during the match.

Senior goalkeeper Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) played 90 minutes for RIT and made three saves. Freshman Ashley Carrington (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) had two shots on goal to lead the way offensively for RIT.

RIT will look to snap its three-match losing streak on Monday evening, as they travel to crosstown rival St. John Fisher to play the Cardinals in a non-coference match that gets underway at 7 p.m.
