Three Tigers earn Liberty League weekly honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Three RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly awards announced by the league on Monday, September 22.

Senior Lindsay Ford was named the Liberty League Women's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week and first year Elliot McSkimin was named the Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week. First year Layla Parker was named the Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Ford scored the game-winner for RIT in a come-from-behind 2-1 win against RPI on Saturday. The win kept the Tigers undefeated in the Liberty League.

McSkimin helped RIT pick up a pair of wins last week, scoring in both games. The first year scored the game-tying goal in the 81st minute in RIT's 2-1 road win at Fredonia, Tuesday. McSkimin tallied the game-tying goal in the 81st minute and had the assist on the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute in the Tigers 2-1 come-from-behind win against RPI. The midfielder leads the team with seven points (3 goals, 1 assist) through seven games.

Parker posted a career-high 22 kills along with nine digs and two service aces in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Fredonia. She also totaled 11 kills and 12 digs for her first career double-double and added three service aces in the 3-0 win over Bard earlier in the day and had 11 kills and nine digs in Friday's five-set setback to Vassar.
