Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer comes back to beat RPI, 2-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior midfielder Lindsay Ford scored the game-winning goal to lead the Tigers to a 2-1 win over RPI in Liberty League action, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • RIT fired two shots on goal in a scoreless first half. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Tawaf and junior forward Eli Gonzalez each had a shot on target in the opening 45 minutes.
  • RPI's Sophia Byron scored in the 80th minute to give the Engineers a 1-0 lead.
  • First year midfielder Elliot McSkimin tied the game 1-1 on her goal in the 81st minute. Junior forward Valeria Luzio fired a pass to McSkimin. Her first shot was saved by RPI keeper Hanna Pihu. The rebound came back to McSkimin who fired a shot into the lower corner.
  • Ford tallied the game-winner in the 83rd minute off an assist from McSkimin. Off a free kick, sophomore midfielder Bella Coccio sent a ball into RPI's penalty area. McSkimin got a head on the ball back to Ford who scored into the low left corner.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • RIT outshot RPI, 13-9 including eight shots on net.
  • The Tigers took seven corner kicks to one for the Engineers.
  • Senior Ashton Anderson made two saves in net for the Tigers.
