Women's Soccer draws No. 10 Rochester, 2-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior Eli Gonzalez and first-year Elliot McSkimin scored second-half goals to help the RIT women's soccer team rally for a 2-2 draw against No.10 Rochester in a non-conference contest at Fauver Stadium, Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ava Schmidt put the Yellowjackets on the board in the 50th minute with a one-touch shot to the bottom right corner off a pass from Femke Laudy.
  • Rochester added a second goal two minutes later when Natalie Santangalo sent a shot from 16 yards out on the right side over the outstretched Tigers' goalkeeper Ashton Anderson.
  • The Tigers got one back in the 68th minute when Gonzalez knocked a one-touch shot in front of goal past Rochester goalkeeper Elani McGuire that came off a pass from sophomore Bella Coccio on the right side.
  • In the 74th minute, McSkimin scored the game-tying goal with a header which came off a corner kick by Coccio.
 
GAME NOTES
  • McSkimin's goal is her fourth of the season and second game-tying goal of the year. The newcomer has scored in four straight games while leading the team with 9 points (4 goals, 1 assist) thus far.
  • Gonzalez's goal is her first of the season.
  • The assists from Coccio are her first of the season.
  • Anderson made four saves in 90 minutes.
  • Rochester finished with a 14-to-7 edge in shots and a 6-to-3 advantage in corner kicks.
  • The two teams have played to a pair of draws in as many seasons. The last season's meeting was a 1-1 tie at RIT.
  • The results puts RIT's record at 4-2-2 overall.
