Sisti scores two as women's soccer beats Clarkson 2-0

ROCHESTER, NY -- Junior forward Kim Sisti (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) scored two goals as RIT defeated Clarkson University 2-0 in women's soccer action from RIT Field on Sunday afternoon. The win improves the Tigers, who are ranked tenth in the East Region, to 6-1-0 on the season as Clarkson falls to 4-4-0 on the year.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute on Sist's first goal. Sophomore midfielder Katelyn Gregg started the play when she played a ball to Shireen Irani (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports Academy) who was making a run down the right flank. Irani got behind her defender and fed a streaking Sisti who scored on the first touch to give the Tigers the kead.

Clarkson had their best scoring chance of the half with two minutes to play. Courtney Donovan got behind her defender and slid a pass across the RIT goal mouth and just out of the reach of a sliding Ariana Czech.

In the second half the Tigers went up 2-0 on Sisti's second goal. Sophomore midfielder Chelsea Shoemaker (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) fed Sisti who gathered the pass, made a quick move and fired a shot into the low right corner to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

RIT out shot the Golden Knights 12-8 an had three corner kicks to two for Clarkson. Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) picked up her sixth win of the season, making seven saves. She has allowed one goal in her last four-plus games. Stephanie Collins took the loss for Clarkson, allowing two goals and making three saves.

RIT returns to action on Thuesday, September 23 when they face cross-town rival the University of Rochester. Kick-off at Rochester is 7 pm.
