Softball no-hit by Ithaca to end season at Empire 8 Tournament

The RIT softball team (17-21) had its season ended by No. 2 seed Ithaca, 2-0 in eight innings at the 2010 Empire 8 Tournament held at Alfred State College.  Ithaca pitcher Alyssa Brook no-hit the Tigers,, striking out nine batters.

Ithaca scored twice in the top of the eighth inning, using two RIT errors to get the lead.  Alyssa Guzman drove in the eventual game-winning run with one out in the eighth inning.

Junior hurler Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) pitched great for the Tigers, allowing just three hits and the two unearned runs, while striking out one and walking none.  Cole allowed just nine walks in 139 1/3 innings this season.  Cole was also the lone Tiger to get to second base in the contest.

Michelle Tabisz (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) walked twice for RIT.  The Tigers made four errors in the contest.

Earlier in the afternoon, RIT lost to top-seed Alfred, 10-4.  The Tigers finish the season with a 17-21 mark.
