ITHACA, NY - The RIT softball team (11-9, 3-3 Empire 8) had its three-game winning streak snapped by Ithaca (14-8, 5-1 Empire 8) on Sunday afternoon. The Bombers won game one, 5-0, and game two, 8-3.
In game one, Ithaca hurler Alison Greaney carried a perfect game into the fifth inning and finished with a one-hit shutout, allowing just two baserunners in the 5-0 win. She struck out seven in the win.
Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) recorded RIT's lone hit, a single in the top of the fifth inning, after
Tori Nadow (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) was hit by a pitch. Cole threw a complete game for RIT, allowing three earned runs.
In game two,
Shannon McCormick (Auburn, NY/Auburn) was 3-for-4 with a run scored and run batted in for the Tigers.
Michelle Tabisz (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Brittany Kemp (Dansville, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) took the loss on the mound.
RIT returns to action on Wednesday, as they travel to D'Youville for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
