Women's soccer plays to scoreless draw at Utica

UTICA, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw in Empire 8 action at Utica College (2-6-2, 1-1-2 E8) on Saturday. The tie moves the Tigers to 6-2-3 on the season and 1-1-2 in the Empire 8.

RIT outshot Utica 20-16 and fired 10 shots on net. Sophomore midfielder Chelsea Shoemaker (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) and freshman forward McKenzie Worden (Steamboat Springs, CO/Steamboat Springs) led the Tigers with four shots on goal apiece. Junior midfielder Jackie Jacobsen fired three shots on net.

The Tigers took three corner kicks to three for the Pioneers. RIT comitted 12 fouls to 11 for Utica. Junior Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made eight stops for RIT who have three ties in their last four games.

RIT will hit the road on Sunday when they face Hartwick College in Empire 8 action at 2:30 pm in Oneonta, New York.
