Men's tennis drops first match of season

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT men's tennis team (0-1, 0-0 Empire 8) started off the 2009 campaign with a loss to Roberts Wesleyan (2-0) by a score of 6-3.

Roberts Wesleyan took four of the six singles matches, and won two of the three doubles matches. At third doubles, the team of Larry Hall (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and John Albers (Grands Rapids, MI/Forest Hills) (Grand Rapids, MI/Forest Hills) defeated Guillermo Zuniga and Jacob Phillips by a score of 8-6.

Senior Mauricio Pommier (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/German) (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/German) started his season off with a victory, defeating Zuniga 6-2, 6-3 in the fifth spot.

Freshman Adam Wolf (South Euclid, Ohio/Brush) (South Euclid, OH/Brush) began his RIT career by defeating Nicholas Hunter 6-0, 6-0.

The Tigers are back in action on Thursday, as they travel to Ithaca to face the Bombers in their first Empire 8 contest of the season.. Play begins at 4 p.m.
