WORCESTER, MA – Cameron Burt (Detroit, MI/) scored the game-winner with forty-seven seconds to play in overtime to give the RIT men's hockey team (9-5-1, 9-2-1 AHA) a 3-2 overtime win over Holy Cross in Atlantic Hockey Association action on Saturday night.  The Tigers extended their unbeaten streak to 10 straight games, longest in Division I.

Burt jammed home a loose puck on a scramble in front of the Holy Cross net for his fifth goal of the season. Chris Tanev (Toronto, Ontario/) and Sean Murphy (Owatonna, MN/) had the assists on the game-winning goal.

RIT came into tonight 8-0-1 in their last nine games after a 1-1 tie last night. RIT has not lost at Holy Cross since November 27, 1981. The Tigers are 5-0-1 at the Hart Center since joining the Division I ranks in 2005-06.

The score was tied after one period of play. Holy Cross struck first with a power play tally at 6:47. Brodie Sheahan scored on a shot through a screen that RIT goaltender Jared DeMichiel (Avon, CT/) never saw.

RIT tied the score at 12:08 of the first on Taylor McReynolds (Sherwood Park, Alberta/) second goal of the season. He took a pass from Mark Cornacchia (Unionville, Ontario/) in stride and beat Thomas Tysowsky with a well placed wrist shot.

Shots were even after the first period 9-9. RIT was 0-for-2 with the man advantage, while Holy Cross went 1-for-2.

There was no scoring in the second period despite some good end-to-end action. Scott Knowles (Riverside, Ontario/) had two good chances in close for the Tigers. DeMichiel made two big saves late in the period while Holy Cross was on the power play to keep the game tied.

RIT took advantage of a two-man power play midway through the third period. Chris Haltigin (Oakville, Ontario/) took a pass from Adam Hartley (West Vancouver, British Columbia/Surrey Eagles) at the right point and blasted a slap shot that beat Tysowsky high over his shoulder. That power play goal gave RIT a 2-1 lead.

The Crusaders tied the score with 5:24 to play in the third on a power play goal by Jay Silvia. He deflected a shot by Mark Znutas tying the score at 2-2.

RIT killed off a Holy Cross power play in the opening minutes of the overtime period. The Tigers killed off the penalty and worked the puck down into the Crusaders end. Murphy fired a shot that was saved. The rebound came in front and Burt jammed it home for the game-winner.

The Tigers were out-shot by Holy Cross 35-30. Jared DeMichiel (Avon, CT/) turned in another outstanding performance, stopping 33 shots on the night picking up his eighth win of the season. RIT went 1-for-8 with the man advantage, while Holy Cross went 2-for-7 on the power play.

Tanev had two assists for the Tigers.

RIT returns to action next Saturday night when they host Niagara University. Face-off is at 7:05 p.m. at Frank Ritter Memorial Arena.
