ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT senior defenseman Xavier Lapointe signed a professional contract with the Orlando Solar Bears, the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate of the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning, announced Monday.
 
Lapointe inked an Amateur Tryout Contract and will report to Orlando for the remainder of the 2026 season.

"We are excited for Xavier," said RIT Head Coach Matt Thomas. "He has been an impactful player throughout his career and has earned this opportunity. We wish him luck as he beings his professional career."

Lapointe appeared in 100 games the last four season, totaling 36 career points on 10 goals and 26 assists along with 48 blocked shots. He finished the 2025-26 season with eight points (2G/6A) in 17 games played after scoring career-highs of five goals, 10 assists and 15 points in 27 games during his junior campaign.
