ONEONTA, NY -
The top-seed RIT baseball team (22-14) had its season come to a close on Saturday, as the Tigers dropped a pair of games at the double-elimination ECAC Upstate Baseball Tournament.  RIT had its seven-game winning streak snapped by #5 SUNY Oswego, 5-4 in 11 innings in first round action.  Later in the day, host SUNY Oneonta, the #2 seed defeated the Tigers 14-6, eliminating RIT from the tournament.

In game one against SUNY Oswego, the Lakers scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning on a sacrifice fly.  RIT had trailed 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning and were down to their final out, until Ryan Tryt (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) tripled.  Dave Kernan (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) was hit by a pitch.  Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/LIvonia) (Livonia, NY/Livonia) pinch-ran for Kernan.  Tryt then scored on a wild pitch and Smith scored off an error by the Oswego pitcher on a batted ball by Ryan Campbell (Brockport, NY/Brockport) (Brockport, NY/Brockport).

Geoff Dornes (Landisville, PA/Hempfiled) (Landisville, PA/Hempfield)
pitched well for RIT in game one, allowing three earned runs on seven hits over nine innings.  He was also 2-for-6 with a double, run scored and RBI.  Mike Marsillo (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) took the loss, despite allowing just an unearned run in the 11th inning.

Matt George (Walton, NY/Walton) (Walton, NY/Walton)
, Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) and Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) had two hits apiece in game one for RIT.

In game two against SUNY Oneonta, RIT jumped out to a 5-2 lead after two innings of play, thanks to a five-run second inning.  Oneonta responded, however with a six-run barrage in the top of the fourth inning to go up 8-5, two more in the sixth and four runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

George was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.  Tryt went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs batted in.  Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) recorded two singles and an RBI, while Dornes scored twice.

RIT broke a team record for most steals in a season (62) this afternoon.
