BROCKPORT, NY -- The RIT baseball team (6-4) split a doubleheader against SUNYAC foe SUNY Brockport (6-10-1) on a cool and sunny Sunday afternoon. The Tigers won game one 3-0 to extend their winning streak to three games before falling by a score of 4-1 in game two.

In game one, the Tigers got all they needed in the top of the first inning, courtesy of a three-run home run by senior catcher Ryan Tryt (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley)Anthony Culotta (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) and Geoff Dornes (Landisville, PA/Hempfiled) (Landisville, PA/Hempfield) reached base before Tryt came up and slammed a pitch out of the park for his first home run of the season.

Dornes would make that lead stand, as he tossed a five-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none for his first win of the season.

In game two, three Brockport hurlers combined to allow just four Tiger hits and hand RIT a 4-1 loss

Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) had two hits and scored RIT's lone run.  He doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Culotta in the top of the sixth inning, cutting Brockport's lead to 4-1.

The Golden Eagles scored once in the third inning and tacked on three more in the fourth.

Jeff Bibbens (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport)
took the loss on the mound for RIT. Paul Schoeneck (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) and Mike Marsillo (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) combined to throw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
