Baseball Breaks Losing Streak With Sweep of Oneonta

Cory Langtry threw a complete-game four-hitter in game one for RIT on Thursday

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (8-11) baseball team snapped an eight-game losing streak with a sweep of SUNY Oneonta (12-12) in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers won game one 5-1 and took game two 5-2.

Game one belonged to Cory Langtry (Moravia, NY/Moravia) (Moravia, NY), who pitched a complete-game, allowing one earned run on four hits. He struck out three and walked only two for his third win of the season.

The Tigers scored a run in the second, two in the third and two in the fifth. Ryan Tryt (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodey), Anthony Culotta (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili), Raffaele Parisi (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) (Rochester, NY/Aquinas), Dave Kernan (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) and Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/LIvonia) (Livonia, NY/Livonia) each had RBsI for the Tigers.

Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. Parisi went 2-for-3 with a RBI and Tryt went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Mike Marsillo (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) was the story in game two, going all seven innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits. He struck out five and walked just two batters for his second win of the season.

Geoff Dornes (Landisville, PA/Hempfiled) (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) was clutch at the plate for RIT. The sophomore went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. His triple in the second inning came with the bases loaded and broke open a tie game. 

Tosh went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI. Culotta went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Ryan Campbell (Brockport, NY/Brockport) (Brockport, NY/Brockport) went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

RIT will take on Empire 8 foe, Utica College this weekend. Saturday's double-header begins at 1 pm at RIT Field. Sunday's double-header gets under way at noon.
