Women's Soccer Shuts Out Elmira

Tigers Clinch Third Seed in E8 Tournament

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team clinched the third seed in the Empire 8 Tournament with a 3-0 win over Elmira College on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers close out the regular season with a 9-6-2 overall record.

Senior Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) scored two of RIT's three goals on the afternoon, giving her 19 for her career.

She gave RIT a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on an assist from Kristen Denninger (Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy) (Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy). Traversi took the service from Denninger and fired a shot over the head of Stacy Krom for her ninth goal of the season.

Krystal Adriaansen (Marion, NY/Marion) (Marion, NY) made it 2-0 RIT in the 25th minute off a free kick from 22 yards out. She bended a shot into the lower right corner for her second goal of the season.

Traversis rounded out the scoring in the 80th minute on an assist from Alyssa Barnes (East Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) (E. Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy). Barnes sent a cross into the box. Elmira's goalkeeper misplayed the ball and Traversi gathered the loose ball and scored into the opne net.

Traversi's 10 goals this season places her in a tied for sixth all-time at RIT in goals in a season. She's fourth all-time in career points at RIT with 56 and her 22 points this season places her eighth all time at RIT.

Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH) picked up the win for RIT. She played the first half and di not have to make a save. Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) played the second half and made two saves.

RIT will face Nazareth College in the Empire 8 Tournament next weekend. The Tigers, the third seed, will face the second-seeded Golden Flyers at Ithaca College.
