CANTON, N.Y. – The RIT women's track & field team finished the first day of the Liberty League Championships in fourth place out of eight teams, Friday.
 
The Tigers scored 34 points on the first day of competition as Ithaca leads with 70 points, with RPI in second (52) and Rochester in third (46).
 
Saturday's events are scheduled to begin at noon.
 
FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

• Junior Mia Gerber won the javelin after throwing 35.81m on her third attempt. Teammate Hannah Madell took seventh (31.26m), while Autumn Bernava placed eighth (31.22m). Bernava also placed third in the hammer throw (48.89m).
• Senior Rachel Kulp set a meet and program record with a time of 12.02 in the 100m prelims.  Kulp also placed sixth (25.36) in the 200m prelims, advancing to both finals tomorrow. The sprinter/jumper also placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.31m.
• In the 100m Hurdles, senior Rania Sabri came in eighth with a 15.50 clocking.
• Junior Eva Reilly and senior Rachel Ladd took fourth and seventh, respectively, in the 3,000m Steeplechase.
