CANTON, N.Y. – The RIT men's track & field team finished the first day of the Liberty League Championships in second place out of eight teams, Friday.
 
The Tigers scored 54 points on the first day of competition with RPI leading with 93 points. Rochester is third with 29 points.
 
Saturday's events are scheduled to begin at noon.
 
FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

• A trio of Tigers advanced to the 400m finals as junior Jack DeFeo finished the prelims with a second-place time of 49.02 while Ryan Senf took fifth (49.49) and Trevor Krukin placed eighth (49.94).
• Senior thrower Erik Stephany won the hammer throw for RIT, marking 57.26m on his final attempt.
• First-year Naashon Calliens and senior Eric Antonecchia both advanced to the 100m hurdles finals as Calliens posted the second fastest time of 15.00 seconds, and Antonecchia placed ninth (15.93).
