Men’s Track & Field finishes in third place at Liberty League Championships

CANTON, N.Y. – The RIT men's track & field team ended the Liberty League Championships in third place, Saturday.
 
The Tigers scored 156.6 while Rochester finished with 158 total points to take second place. RPI cruised to the team title with 317 points.
 
SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior mid-distance runner Jack DeFeo set a meet and program record by winning the 400m finals with a time of 47.14 seconds.
  • DeFeo joined Trenton Goyette, John Elliot, and Ryan Senf to win the 4x400m relay (3:16.83).
  • First-year hurdler Naashon Calliens won the 110m hurdles finals with a time of 14.60 seconds.
  • In the field events, first-year Cooper Bradley took second in the high jump (1.96m) as senior Dean Bartels finished as the runner-up in the shot put (14.14m).
 
FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS
  • A trio of Tigers advanced to the 400m finals as DeFeo finished the prelims with a second-place time of 49.02 while Ryan Senf took fifth (49.49) and Trevor Krukin placed eighth (49.94).
  • Senior thrower Erik Stephany won the hammer throw for RIT, marking 57.26m on his final attempt.
  • Calliens and senior Eric Antonecchia both advanced to the 100m hurdles finals as Calliens posted the second fastest time of 15.00 seconds, and Antonecchia placed ninth (15.93).
