- Son of Kathryn and Michael Shaffer.
- Brother of Sam Shaffer (his twin) and Sophie Shaffer.
- His brother, Sam, plays lacrosse at Neumann. His sister, Sophie, has played rugby at Colgate.
- Volunteer firefighter at Belmont Hills Fire Company.
- Favorite athletic-related moment: Watching his twin brother get to play his senior lacrosse season after tearing his ACL, MCL, and meniscus the summer before after he was hit by a car on a fire call.
- Says his twin brother, Sam, has had the most influence on his athletic career. "We both are very competitive and wanted to be better than the other, so we pushed each other to be the best we can."
