Women's Hockey hosts Syracuse in Atlantic Hockey America Quarterfinal

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 4 RIT women's hockey team hosts No. 5 Syracuse in the Atlantic Hockey America Quarterfinal on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 3:05 p.m.

ABOUT RIT:
RIT finished fourth in the Atlantic Hockey America standings with an 11-13-0 conference record and 34 points.
 
The Tigers average 2.9 goals per game and allow 2.5 goals per contest. The Tigers are 36-of-112 (32.1%) on the power play and 89-of-114 (78.1%) on the penalty kill. RIT has won 951-of-1,921 (49.5%) of its faceoffs and blocked 488 shots.
 
RIT features six players with eight or more goals and 10 players with 10 or more points. Junior Addie Alvarez leads the team with 31 points and 22 assists. Junior defender Emma Pickering is second with 26 points and is tied for the team lead with 11 goals. Keranen is third in scoring with 24 points (10g, 14a) and sophomore forward Brac Kelley is fourth with 20 points (11g, 9a). Stein and junior forward Linda Rulle are tied with Pickering for first on the team with 11 goals apiece.
 
Pickering leads the team with 76 blocked shots. Dyke is second with 45 blocks and Buziak is third with 42 blocks. Rulle is fourth on the team with 41 blocks and first-year defender Riley Gramlich is fifth with 41 blocked shots.
 
Senior goalie Sophia Bellina is 13-13 with a 2.54 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage, while McNamara is 3-4 with a 2.02 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage.

ABOUT SYRACUSE:
Syracuse finished fourth in the AHA standings with a 11-13-0 conference record and 33 points. The Orange went 0-1-1 in a pair of AHA contests at Mercyhurst. Junior forward Jackson Kinser and sophomore forward Rylee McLeod each scored a goal in Friday's 1-1 tie. First year goalie Ava Drabyk made 27 saves. First year forward Emma Gnade scored the lone shootout goal to give the Orange the extra point. Drabyk made 14 saves and junior goalie Bella Gould made 16 stops in Saturday's loss.
 
Syracuse enters the quarterfinal fifth in the AHA averaging 1.88 goals per game and fourth allowing 2.76 goals per contest. The Orange are sixth converting 14-of-115 (.133 percent) of their power play chances and seventh killing off 89-of-119 (74.8%) of their penalties. Syracuse is fifth in the league winning 905-of-1,895 face offs (47.8%) and fourth averaging 14.59 blocked shots per game.  
 
Gnade leads Syracuse with 18 points and 10 assists. Kinsler is second on the team with 16 points on seven goals and nine assists. Junior forward Nea Tervonen (7g, 7a), sophomore forward Stella Costabile (6g, 8a) and sophomore forward Peyton Armstrong (6g, 8a) are tied for third on the team with 14 points apiece.  
 
Senior defender Sami Gendron leads the team and is third in the AHA with 80 blocked shots. Sophomore defender Jessica Cheung is second with 50 blocked shots and sophomore defender Celia Wiegand is third with 50 blocks.
 
Drabyk is 12-15-4 and is third in the AHA with 2.32 goals-against average, third with a .925 save percentage and fourth averaging 27.39 saves per game.
 
RIT VS. SYRACUSE:
Syracuse is 38-17-4 all-time against Syracuse. RIT is 2-2-0 against Syracuse this season including a 4-2 at the Gene Polisseni Center on Feb. 7. Rulle scored two goals, Alvarez had three assists and Keranen tallied a goal and two assists. Bellina made 22 saves in net. The Orange are 1-4-0 versus RIT in the AHA Tournament. RIT beat Syracuse 2-1 in OT to claim the 2015 Tournament title.
