Women's Hockey loses 8-1 at No. 12 Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. – RIT senior Addie Alvarez scored in the Tigers 8-1 loss at No. 12 Clarkson, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • RIT had seven shots on goal in a scoreless first period, while first year goalie Oceanne Thiffault made nine stops for the Tigers.
  • Raedyn Spademan scored at 4:33 of the second period to give Clarkson a 1-0 lead.
  • Spademan tallied her second goal of the period at 5:19 to give the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead.
  • Shelby Laidlaw gave Clarkson a 3-0 lead on her goal at 9:07 of the period.
  • Alvarez scored a power play goal at 13:23 of the second to cut the deficit to 3-1. Junior forwards Kailey Favro and Zoe Ziotas each had an assist on the play.
  • Clarkson scored five unanswered goals in the third period, including three from Jessie Pellerin to make it an 8-1 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Clarkson outshot RIT, 38-26
  • The Tigers went 1-for-4 on the power play while the Golden Knights went 0-for-2
  • Thiffault finished with 25 saves in her first collegiate start. Sophomore Tahlia Vasseur made five saves in relief.

RIT returns to action on Friday (Oct. 2) against No. 13 Colgate at 6:00 p.m. in the Tigers home opener.
