ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior forward
Austin Brimmer and first-year forward
Zach Wigle each notched a goal and an assist in the Tigers' 2-1 victory over visiting Niagara, Tuesday, in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) action.
Following a scoreless first period, Brimmer and Wigle scored in a 31-second span for a 2-0 lead 1:48 into the second. Niagara broke up the shutout midway through the third, but couldn't find the equalizer.
Sophomore goaltender
Jakub Krbecek made 22 saves, including 10 in the second period, to improve to 17-10-1 this winter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Brimmer opened the scoring 1:17 into the second period. A shot by Wigle in a crowded slot deflected to Brimmer, who buried a wrist shot from the right hashes, right post.
The duo linked up again on the same shift 31 seconds later. Brimmer took a long feed from sophomore defenseman
Tristan Allen in the neutral zone before flipping a pass to Wigle on the left boards. Wigle skated to the top of the left faceoff circle and scored on a long wrist shot, far post.
Niagara got one back at 10:13 of the third. Andy Reist won an offensive zone faceoff back to Ethan Lund at the left point. Lund threw a puck to the right faceoff circle for a one-timer by Ethan Ziskie that scored under Krbeck's pads, far post.
