Women’s Cross Country finishes second at Tom Balon Alumni Classic

BROCKPORT, N.Y.  – The RIT women's cross country team opened the season with a second-place finish at Brockport's Tom Balon Alumni Classic at Sweden Town Park, Saturday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior Kathryn Arbegast paced the Tigers in the 5k race, taking second out of 104 runners with a time of 18:38.9.
  • Therese Georgia, a junior, finished 13th overall (19:52.4) as sophomore Sydney Borofsky came in 16th (19:59.4).
  • Rounding out the top five for RIT were junior Rachael Ladd in 19th place (20:10.8) and first-year Juliana Cavanaugh in 22nd (20:22.4).
  • Brockport won the race after scoring 67 points, as the Tigers finished with 72 points. Rochester took third place with 74 points.
WHAT'S NEXT
RIT will prepare for Rochester's Yellowjacket Invitational, which will take place Saturday, September 20, at Genesee Valley Park.
