Women's Hockey hosts Robert Morris for a pair of AHA contests

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's hockey team hosts Robert Morris for a pair of Atlantic Hockey America games on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 28-29). Both games at the Gene Polisseni Center begin at 2:05 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT:
RIT lost a pair of games to No. 6 Penn State last weekend, losing 5-3 on Friday followed by a 4-3 loss the following day. Junior defender Emma Pickering scored two goals and junior forwards Addie Alvarez and Linda Rulle each had two assists, Friday. Senior goalie Sophia Bellina made 42 saves.
 
Saturday, senior forward Jaidan Fahrny scored two goals and first year forward Tilli Keranen had two assists. Fahrny scored back-to-back goals, tying the score at 2-2 on her power play goal at 17:50 of the first period. Sophomore forward Brac Kelley tied the score at 3-3 on her goal at 14:55 of the second period. Bellina 34 saves for the Tigers.
 
ABOUT RIT:
RIT enters the weekend tied for third in the Atlantic Hockey America standings with a 4-6-0 conference record and 13 points. RIT is five points behind Mercyhurst in second place, and one point ahead of Syracuse who is fifth with 12 points.
 
The Tigers average 2.7 goals per game and allow 2.2 goals per contest. The Tigers are 22-of-65 (33.8%) on the power play and 50-of-59 (84.7%) on the penalty kill. RIT has won 513-of-1,018 (50.4%) of its faceoffs and blocked 253 shots.
 
RIT features nine players with three or more goals and six players with 10 or more points. Alvarez leads the team with 15 points on a team-high seven goals and eight assists. Rulle and Pickering are tied for second on the team with 13 points apiece. Rulle is second on the team with six goals, while Pickering leads the Tigers with nine assists. Keranen (5g, 5a), Kelley (4g, 6a) and sophomore forward Kailey Favro (2g, 8a) are tied for fourth with 10 points apiece.
 
Pickering leads the team with 45 blocked shots. First year defender Riley Gramlich and sophomore defender Madison Buziak are tied for second with 24 blocks. First year defender Laura Dyke is fourth with 23 blocks.
 
Bellina is 6-9 with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage. Sophomore Brenna McNamara is 2-1 with a 1.22 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.

ABOUT ROBERT MORRIS:
Robert Morris enters the weekend tied with RIT for third in the Atlantic Hockey America standings with a 4-5-1 conference record and 13 points. The Colonials went 1-0-1 in a pair of games at Lindenwood last weekend, tying 2-2 on Friday and winning 3-0 the following day. Sophomore forward Alaina Giampietro tallied a goal and an assist in Friday's tie and sophomore forward Jessica MacKinnon scored a goal. Junior goalie Maggie Hatch made 39 saves in net for Robert Morris.
 
Sophomore forward Rowyn Ringor, sophomore defender Mya Kearns and MacKinnon each scored in Saturday's win. Hatch made 29 saves to earn the shutout.
 
Robert Morris enters the weekend fourth in Atlantic Hockey averaging 2.00 goals per game and fourth allowing 2.89 goals per contest. The Colonials are fourth in the AHA converting 10-of-66 (15.2 percent) of their power play chances and sixth killing off 58-of-76 (76.3%) of their penalties. Robert Morris has won 603-of-1059 face offs (56.9%) and third averaging 14.33 blocked shots per game.  
 
MacKinnon leads Robert Morris and is tied for fourth in Atlantic Hockey with 17 points. She is tied for fifth in the AHA with eight goals and tied for fifth in the league with 19 assists. Senior forward Morgan Giannone is second on the team with 13 points on five goals and eight assists and Giampietro (7g, 3a) and sophomore forward Taylor Storey (4g, 6a) is tied for third with 10 points.
 
MacKinnon leads the AHA with 245 faceoff wins and is third in the league winning 63.3 percent of her draws. Sophomore defender Shayne Desjardins leads the Colonials and is second in the league with 55 blocked shots. Junior defender Thalia D'Elia is second on the team with 31 blocks.
 
Hatch is fourth in the AHA with a 2.49 goals-against average, sixth with a .920 save percentage and seventh averaging 26.92 saves per game.
 
RIT VS. ROBERT MORRIS:
Robert Morris is 32-16-6 all-time against RIT. The two teams split a pair of games in October. The Colonials picked up a 2-1 overtime win in game one, while the Tigers were 5-1 winners the following day. Alvarez led RIT with a goal and two assists in the win.
