GENEVA, N.Y. - The RIT women's rowing team raced in the Challenge on the Canal hosted by Hobart and William Smith, Saturday.
The Women's 1v 8+ took third place behind Mercyhurst University and William Smith with a time of 18:02.72, overtaking four other boats in the event. The boat was coxed by
Claire Schwenke with
Jessica Hall,
Evelyn Andersen,
Natalie Siwek,
Maggie Carey,
Veronica Washco,
Olivia Henry,
Michelle Carney, and
Ellen Shepard. The Women's 2v 8+ placed fifth in the same event with a time of 19:50.17.
The Women's Novice 8+ took second place to William Smith with a time of 27:14.28. The Women's Four took third place to Mercyhurst and William Smith with a time of 19:19.44, finishing five seconds behind the William Smith Four. The boat was coxed by Jacob Marrer with
Jessica Hall,
Evelyn Andersen,
Michelle Carney, and
Ellen Shepard.
The RIT Women's Single rowed by first-year
Erin Getty placed second to Mercyhurst's Women's Single with a time of 27:01.56. In the RIT Women's Pairs event,
Maggie Carey and
Natalie Siwek finished in fifth place out of seven boats with a time of 22:02.55, and the pair rowed by
Claire Schwenke and
Julia Gill placed seventh with a time of 24:41.95.
This was the last race of the Tigers fall season, and the Tigers will return to the racecourse for their spring season in March.
