Men's Hockey downs Air Force, 4-2

USAFA, Colo. – RIT sophomore forward Carter Wilkie tallied a goal and an assist while sophomore goaltender Tommy Scarfone stopped a season-high 36 shots in a 4-2 Atlantic Hockey victory at Air Force, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT first-year forward Simon Isabelle cleaned up a short rebound to open the scoring with 5:47 left in the first period.
  • The Tigers opened a 3-0 lead in the second. Wilkie notched a power-play tally with 17:40 on the clock before sophomore forward Tanner Andrew scored on a cross-ice feed from Wilkie with 6:05 remaining.
  • Air Force got on the board with 46 seconds left in the third period after Parker Brown found the net on a short rebound under Scarfone's pads.
  • RIT first-year forward Tyler Mahan tipped a long feed by senior forward Elijah Gonsalves into the Falcon net with 8:38 left in the third period for a three-goal lead.
  • Air Force's Luke Rowe scored with 3:14 left in regulation to complete the scoring. 
GAME NOTES
  • Isabelle scored a goal in his third-consecutive game.
  • Junior forward Cody Laskosky assisted Isabelle's goal to extend his season-opening point-scoring streak to six games.
  • Senior defenseman Gianfranco Cassaro registered two assists and leads the team with seven points on two goals and five assists over the Tigers' last five games.
  • Wilkie has three goals and two assists over the last four games. He also won 14-of-23 faceoffs in Friday's win.
  • Mahan scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
  • Scarfone was credited with 12 saves in all three periods.
  • RIT out-shot Air Force, 41-38, tying the season-high shot total from the 8-5 victory over Union last Saturday (Oct. 15)
  • RIT came back to earn the road split with the Falcons after falling on Thursday, 3-2.
