BLOCKING BRIGADE
The Tigers have four shot blockers in the top-30 nationally – the most of any team. Joining Sims are sophomore defender
Mia Tsilemos, who is fifth with 47 blocks, freshman defender
Kyla Bear, who is tied for 11th with 38 blocks, and senior forward captain
Jordan Marchese, who is tied for 28th with 33 blocks. Marchese is second in the nation among forward shot blockers.
LAST TIME OUT
RIT returns to game action after suffering a pair of home losses to CHA opponent Lindenwood nearly four weeks ago. The Tigers fell 4-1 (Dec. 3) and 3-1 (Dec. 4). In the latter contest, the Lions got the game-tying goal in the final minute of the second period and game-winner in the final minute of the third with both coming on the power play.
THIRD PERIOD BLUES
RIT has either led, tied, or trailed by a goal entering the third period on nine occasions this season with the last time coming in the team's last outing against Lindenwood (Dec. 4).
ABOUT THE SHARKS
LIU enters this weekend's games in first place with an undefeated 10-0-0 record in the New England Woman's Hockey Alliance and 10-7-0 overall. The Sharks are undefeated in December after a pair of NEWHA wins over Franklin Pierce on Dec. 3 (4-1) and Dec. 4 (4-3). LIU's last outing was a 2-0 exhibition victory at Merrimack on Dec. 11. Junior forward Megan Bouveur's 15 points and eight goals lead the team and her seven assists co-lead the team with freshman forward Jeannie Wallner. Bouveur scored the game-winning goal in the Shark's 4-3 win (Dec. 4) against Franklin Pierce after LIU rallied from a 3-0 deficit with Wallner assisting. The pair finished that contest with a goal and assist each.
RIT VS. LIU - HISTORY
The Tigers hold a 2-0 all-time series lead with the Sharks after a pair of 2019 home victories with a 3-2 overtime win on Dec. 14 and a 5-2 victory on Dec. 15. Davies scored the overtime winner in the Dec. 14 win after the Tigers rallied from a 2-0 deficit and finished the weekend series along with junior
Jaymee Nolan with three points on two goals and one assist each. This weekend's matchup marks RIT's first visit to Northwell Health Ice Center.
