ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Recent Rochester Institute of Technology graduate Chris McKay (Edmonton, Alberta/Sherwood Park Crusaders) signed a contract with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye, a minor league franchise of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings.
McKay completed his career in a Tiger sweater this past winter. The assistant captain made 35 appearances on the RIT blue line, totaling 11 points on three goals and eight assists. He also finished second with 66 blocked shots.
McKay scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 2:39 left in regulation in RIT's 5-3 victory over visiting Air Force (Feb. 29) on Senior Night to clinch a third-place finish in the Atlantic Hockey regular-season standings.
McKay ranked fourth among his classmates with 123 games played over the last four years while finishing with 28 career points on five goals and 23 assists.
The Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team honoree completed a degree in finance in May.
