ROCHESTER, NY -- Four members of the RIT womens volleyball team were named to the 2019 Liberty League Women's Volleyball All-Conference Team on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Katie Hobler (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) and
Taylor Higgins (Peru, NY/Peru) were first team selections.
Kelly Waters (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) earned second team accolades, while
Brianna Ellis (Wayne, PA/Radnor) was an honorable mention pick.
Hobler, the 2018 Liberty League Rookie of the Year, led RIT and was second in the Liberty League with 469 kills, averaging 4.65 kills per set. She was eighth in the league with a .281 hitting percentage. In 26 sets played in Liberty League play, Hobler led the league with 102 kills, averaging 3.92 per set. She had a season-best 24 kills against SUNY Cortland Nov. 2.

Higgins, a second team selection in 2018, finished second on the team and fifth in the Liberty League with 352 kills, surpassing the 1,000-kills plateau against New York University Nov. 1. She finished sixth in the league, averaging 3.20 kills per set and was second on the team with 361 digs. Higgins had a season-best 22 kills twice against SUNY Canton (Sept. 6) and at St. Lawrence (Oct. 25).

Waters played in all 30 matches, while appearing in 102 sets. She finished second in the Liberty League hitting .336. She finished tied for sixth in the league with 59 total blocks, averaging 0.58 per set. Waters had a season-high seven blocks against Marywood Oct. 5, and had 16 kills at Vassar College on Oct. 12.

Ellis played in 26 matches, appearing in 73 sets. She led the team and was fourth in the Liberty League with 724 assists. Ellis finished second in the league, averaging 9.92 assists per set and was fifth on the team with 149 digs. She had 19 matches with 20 or more assists, including a career-high 55 assists against Skidmore College Sept. 27. Ellis had 20 or more assists in six straight matches from Sept. 21 through Oct. 5.
RIT finished with an 18-12 overall record and was 5-2 in the Liberty League. The Tigers were defeated by Ithaca College in the Liberty League Semifinal.
