PITTSFORD, NY -- The RIT (10-0) women's swimming and diving team finished the 2018-19 regular season undefeated in dual meets with a 169-129 win at Nazareth College (4-3) Saturday afternoon. The Tigers have now won 19 straight dual meets dating back to the start of the 2017-18 season.
RIT set three different pool records on Saturday and featured two swimmers with three individual wins in
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) and
Mililani Rosare (Campbell, CA/Westmont). Zbranak picked up a win in the 200-meter freestyle (2:10.60), the 100-meter freestyle (59.10) and the 100-meter butterfly (1:06.25). The latter was a pool record. Rosare was a winner in the 100-meter backstroke (1:07.13), the 400-meter freestyle (4:46.46) and the 200-meter individual medley (2:30.30).
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) was a winner in the 800-meter freestyle, coming home in a time of 9:58.15, and grabbed a win in the 200-meter backstroke, winning in a time of 2:29.08.
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) set a pool record in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:14.15, while
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) took the 200-meter butterfly (2:35.22) and
Alicia Shenal (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) in the 200-meter backstroke (2:29.39).
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) was part of a one-two finish with Zbranak in the 200-meter freestyle, finishing second in a time of 2:15.50.
Addy Maykish (Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) helped the Tigers sweep the top-two spots in the 800-meter freestyle, finishing second in a time of 9:59.44. Shenal was second in the 200-meter short-course backstroke (2:29.39), and Huey came home second in the 100-meter short-course butterfly (1:09.15).
RIT clinched the meet with a win in the 400-meter freestyle relay, setting a pool record in the process. The team of Shenal, Huey, Smith and Zbranak won the event in a time of 4:04.82.
RIT will now prepare for the Liberty League Championships beginning Wednesday, Feb. 20, hosted by Ithaca College.
