ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (8-0) women's swimming and diving team remained unbeaten in dual meets with a 161.5-136.5 win at the University of Rochester (6-3) Monday afternoon. The Tigers have won 17 straight dual meets dating back to the start of the 2017-18 season.
RIT began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Mililani Rosare (Campbell, CA/Westmont),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Alicia Shenal (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) won the race in a time of 1:49.94.
Senior
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) won three individual events Monday. She won the 200-yard freestyle, coming home in a time of 1:56.16. Zbranak took home first place in the 200-yard backstroke, winning in a time of 2:11.00, and won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of :58.71.
Zbranak led a 14-point event for RIT in the 200-yard freestyle.
Phoebe Huey (Fort Collins, CO/Fossil Ridge) earned three valuable points with her third place finish, while
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) finished in fourth place, earning two points.
Rosare and Shenal each won two individual events. Rosare was a winner in the 100-yard backstroke (:58.93) and the 200-yard IM (2:15.27); while Shenal took home first place in the 50-yard freestyle (:24.89) and the 100-yard freestyle (:54.11). The Tigers swept the top three spots in the 50-yard freestyle with Huey placing second, and
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) coming home third.
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) took home first place in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:07.17.
In diving action,
Anastasia Ueda (Lafayette, CA/Miramonte) placed second in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 224.24.
Jessica Kaups (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) was third with a score of 217.19. In the 3-meter competition, Kaups placed second with a score of 212.47,while Ueda was third with a score of 197.17.
RIT secured the win with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Zbranak, Huey, Smith and Shenal came home first in a time of 1:39.93.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 23 when the Tigers compete at William Smith College beginning at 7 p.m.
