BINGHAMTON, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (6-6) earned its third straight victory, 6-3 over host Oneonta State University (4-6) at the Binghamton Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
RIT scored the first six points to win the match. The Tigers won all three doubles matches in close fashion. The duo of
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and
Patrick Mathews (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) defeated Joe D'Orazio and Nick Fox, 8-6 at first doubles, while
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) won their second doubles match by the same score. At third doubles,
Roger Peckham (Westlake, OH/Lake Ridge Academy) and
Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) earned an 8-7 win, taking the tiebreaker, 7-3.
Lynaugh earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Marco Ammirati at second singles, while Lowitt defeated Zach Lasky at third singles, 6-4, 6-3. Ingoglia defeated D'Orazio in a very competitive match at first singles. D'Orazio won the first set, 7-5 before Ingoglia won set two, 6-4 and took the the third set tiebreaker, 10-5.
RIT is back in action on Tuesday, April 10 with a road match at Liberty League foe Ithaca College that gets underway at 4 p.m.
