Women's hockey returns to action with home-and-home series against Syracuse

Tigers go on the road Friday, return home Saturday

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team returns to the ice this weekend with a home-and-home series against College Hockey America rival Syracuse University. Friday's game from Syracuse begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest from the Polisseni Center starts at 1 p.m.
 
RIT has six regular season games remaining, all against College Hockey America foes, three on the road and three at the Gene Polisseni Center. Syracuse is currently third in the CHA standings with 17 points, while RIT is sixth. The CHA Postseason Tournament will take place from March 1-3 at HARBORCENTER in downtown Buffalo.
 
Tickets for Saturday's game are $5 for adults, $4 for RIT staff, faculty and alumni, $3 for youth, and as always, admission is free for all RIT students (one ticket per valid ID). Tickets are available at the Gene Polisseni Center and Gordon Field House Box Offices, by calling (585) 475-4121 or by visiting www.rittickets.com.
 
RIT was off last weekend. Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) leads RIT in scoring with nine goals and 14 points. Brittney Gout (Caledon, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) has 12 points, while Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep) has 11 points. In goal, Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) is among the national leaders with 634 saves this season and has a .912 save percentage.
 
Syracuse enters the weekend with a 9-17-2 mark, including an 8-5-1 record in CHA play. The Orange fell to No. 7 Cornell, 5-0 on Tuesday evening. Brooke Avery leads the Orange in scoring with 10 goals and 17 points, while Stephanie Grossi and Lindsay Eastwood are right behind with 16 points apiece. Eastwood has a team-best 14 assists. In net, Abbey Miller is 8-14-2 with a 2.33 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.
 
Syracuse leads the all-time series between the two schools, 17-7-2. Syracuse won the previous two meetings between the two schools earlier this season, 4-1 in Rochester on Nov. 17 and 5-1 in Syracuse the following day.
