FREDONIA, NY -- The RIT (4-0) women's swimming and diving team won in convincing fashion, with a 198-77 win at SUNY Fredonia (0-3) Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Tigers have now won 13 straight dual meets dating back to last season.
RIT began the meet by sweeping the top two places in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Phoebe Huey (Fort Collins, CO/Fossil Ridge) won the event in a time of 1:53.26. The team of
Alicia Shenal (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta),
Mililani Rosare (Campbell, CA/Westmont),
Margo McBrearty (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Megan Hawkes (Franklinville, NJ/Gloucester County) came home second in a time of 1:59.67.
Zbranak won the first of her two events with a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle, winning in a time of 11:24.25.
Addy Maykish (Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) placed third (11:39.28), while
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) picked up two points with a fourth place (11:48.85) finish. Huey was one three Tigers to place in the top-four in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the event in a time of 2:00.22.
Emily Lederman (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown) was third (2:05.05), while
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) was fourth (2:05.36).
Shenal was a winner in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.33), while
Lauryn Mattoon (Genoa, NY/Southern Cayuga) was second (1:11.70). Adams (1:09.36) and Mililani (1:11.93) were 1-2 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Shenal won her second individual event with a win in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.45), while Adams picked up her second win with a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:39.12). Phillips won the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.97) and Zbranak picked up her second win of the meet, placing first in the 50-yard freestyle (25.85).
Katie Mayer (Bristol, VT/Vergennes Union) was second (25.97), while McBrearty was third (26.57).
RIT swept the top-three spots in the 100-yard freestyle. Huey won the event (55.24), while O'Gorman was second (56.44) and Smith was third (59.96). Other winners included Roasre in the 500-yard freestyle (5:26.91) and Phillips in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.68).
In diving action,
Jessica Kaups (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) won the 1-meter competition (196.55), while
Megan Smith (Monroe, CT/Masuk) was second (149.45) and
Victoria Ueda (Lafayette, CA/Miramonte) was third (133.50). Kaups won the 3-meter competition with a score of 198.35, while Smith was second (154.70).
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 3 when RIT hosts Liberty League foe St. Lawrence University. The meet gets underway from Judson Pool at 1 p.m.
