ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (3-0) women's swimming and diving team defeated Alfred University (0-1) 190-95 Saturday afternoon at Judson Pool as part of RIT Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend. With the win, the Tigers have now won 12 straight dual meets dating back to last season.
The Tigers began the meet with a first and third place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Phoebe Huey (Fort Collins, CO/Fossil Ridge) won the event in a time of 1:52.51. The team of
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna),
Angela Petote-Bozza (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia),
Margo McBrearty (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) came home third, earning RIT two points in a time of 2:00.19.
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) was one of five Tigers to win two individual events, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:31.50) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:41.87). Zbranak won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:15.10 and took home first place in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 54.44.
Mililani Rosare (Campbell, CA/Westmont) was a winner in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.49) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.58).
Phoebe Huey (Fort Collins, CO/Fossil Ridge) was a winner in the 50-yard freestyle (25.51) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.14).
Alicia Shenal (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) came home first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.45) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.94).
In diving action,
Jessica Kaups (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) won the 1-meter competition with a score of 194.35, while
Anna Johnson (Knoxville, TN/Farragut) placed third with a score of 167.60 and
Megan Smith (Monroe, CT/Masuk) was was fifth. Kaups was second in the 3-meter competition, posting a score of 203.45, and Smith was third with a score of 144.25.
RIT returns to action Saturday, October 27 when the Tigers swim at SUNY Fredonia at 1 p.m. in Fredonia, N.Y.
