ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (2-0) women's swimming and diving team won its home opener Wednesday evening with a 140-95 victory over SUNY Oswego (0-1) at Judson Pool.
In relay action, the Tigers began the meet with a 1-2 finish on the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Mililani Rosare (Campbell, CA/Westmont),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) took home first place in a time of 1:52.22. The team of
Emily Lederman (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown),
Angela Petote-Bozza (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia),
Margo McBrearty (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) were second in a time of 1:59.00.
Addy Makish won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:41.38, while
Katie Mayer (Bristol, VT/Vergennes Union) was third in a time of 12:27.26. Zbranak led a 1-2-3 RIT finish in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the race in a time of 1:59.00. Phillips was second (2:04.62) and
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) was third, coming home in a time of 2:06.33.
Phoebe Huey (Fort Collins, CO/Fossil Ridge) took home a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (25.19), and won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 54.19. Rosare won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:17.36, and the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.40). Zbranak won her second individual event of the meet with a win in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in a time of 59.73.
Phillips got a win in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 5:38.48. Smith was second in the event (5:42.86), while Maykish was third in a time of 5:51.66.
In diving,
Jessica Kaups (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) won the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 190.90, and was third in the 1-meter event (180.05).
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 when the Tigers host Alfred University at 12 p.m. as part of RIT's Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.
