ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (4-4) men's swimming and diving team was defeated 164-136 by Nazareth College (8-0) on Saturday afternoon at Judson Pool. Prior to the meet, the Tigers honored the class of 2018 as they made their final appearance at Judson Pool.
Eric Moss (Irvington, NY/Irvington) took home a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, winning in a time of 4:53.64. He was second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.71.
Mark Truskinovsky (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.67), while
John Stelmack (Toccoa, GA/Stephens County) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.54).
Carl Schlehr (Maineville, OH/Kings) was right behind Stelmack in second. Stelmack was also runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Ben Hamilton (Addison, NY/Addison) won both diving events, taking the 3-meter with a tremendous score of 302.40, and the 1-meter with a score of 291.10.
Alex Dieroff (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) was second in both diving events.
Joe Wang (Framingham, MA/Framingham) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:24.71, while
Nicholas Genovese (Lincoln, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.60).
In the final event of the day, RIT's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Genovese,
Tyler Allen (Newark, NY/Newark),
Jason Cook (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and Facchine was second behind Nazareth in a time of 1:27.36, just 18 one-hundredths shy.
Before the meet, RIT honored seniors Cook, Facchine,
Lucas Fitzgerald (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport),
Spencer Hall (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh), Hamilton,
Justin Morris (Holliston, MA/Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School), Stelmack and
Foster West (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas).
RIT returns to action on Sunday afternoon when the Tigers compete at Hamtilon College in a make-up from Jan. 13.
